Trabaj\u00f3 como sacerdote cat\u00f3lico en Rep\u00fablica Dominicana y Per\u00fa durante la d\u00e9cada de los a\u00f1os sesenta del siglo pasado, \u00e9poca de la que data su inter\u00e9s por la problem\u00e1tica cristianismo-revoluci\u00f3n que lo llevar\u00eda a escribir esta biograf\u00eda de Camilo Torres, publicada originalmente en ingl\u00e9s por Doubleday de Nueva York en 1975. Es autor de El imperio de cart\u00f3n (1998, 2006), El guerrillero invisible (2000) y Samuel Beckett, La tragicomedia de la vida (2005), entre otros libros publicados en Colombia. Fall From Grace, su biograf\u00eda del obispo Eamonn Casey, fue uno de los m\u00e1s vendidos en Ir landa en 1992. Ha publicado traducciones al castellano de Walt Whitman, Seamus Heaney y Samuel Beckett, y sus versiones de obras de dramaturgos como David Mamet y Harold Pinter han sido montadas por el Teatro Nacional en Bogot\u00e1. Su traducci\u00f3n de Hamlet de William Shakespeare se estren\u00f3 en el Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro en 2006. Otelo, en el Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santodomingo en mayo de 2015; y Macbeth, en el Teatro Col\u00f3n en 2016.\r\nEn 2013, el presidente Juan Manuel Santos le otorg\u00f3 la nacionalidad por su
